Are You A Wellness Nest Woman? The Wellness Nest Founder Explains

Are you a woman looking to learn more about health and wellbeing?

A woman who has big goals to achieve, so taking care of yourself is no longer negotiable?

A woman who is ready to turn her health around and become the best you can be?

If you answered yes, you are a Wellness Nest Woman.

Here at The Wellness Nest, we have a strong focus on caring for women in a holistic way. Recently, our founder and head myotherapist Rhianna sat down to talk about this new focus and what it means for the clients of The Wellness Nest.

What does it mean to be a Wellness Nest Woman?

To me, a Wellness Nest Woman is a woman who is taking steps towards her best self. She started off as someone who was highly stressed, anxious and didn’t know where to turn when her health crumbled.

After years of putting her all into everything else - her family, her work, her social life - it’s time to put aside something for herself.

A Wellness Nest Woman thrives with a little bit of nurturing and support. She is learning how to incorporate ways to practise self-care, but still needs someone to encourage her to switch off and prioritise herself.

This is the journey that I took for myself over the past few years - and I’m still on it today. Now I want to hold space for others as they undergo the same transformation.

Why the pivot towards women’s health and wellbeing?

The change came about when The Wellness Nest moved to its new location in Docklands. Prior to that, I felt like a square peg in a round hole. But when we moved, I discovered that I could find a square hole instead!

The best way for me to serve my clients was to get specific about the people I wanted to serve and was best equipped to help. When I dug deep down, it was women who needed someone to talk to, but also someone who could address their health concerns.

Have you ever struggled with health yourself?

Absolutely. A big part of my move towards women’s health was my own issues with both physical and mental health.

I always used to drive myself to do better, doubt myself and live in my own head. What I thought was perfectionism was actually severe anxiety in disguise. This was compounded by some physical health concerns such as hormonal imbalances.

Now I can see the positive of it all. The experience gave me a unique perspective – as I play so many roles in my business, work and life, I understand the pressure that many women feel on a daily basis.

How did you figure out that something needed to change for you to address your health concerns?

Honestly, a lot of my symptoms were things that I just thought were ‘normal’.

I used to think it was normal to overthink, to second-guess everything. It was normal to experience hair loss from stress, to sleep poorly and barely eat. I thought that every woman had painful periods that would put them in bed for days and affect their everyday life.

I looked sick and I didn’t even know it. But one day, a friend turned around to me and said ‘you’re not ok – you need to get help.’

From there, I started to prioritise my own health and wellbeing. But I also started to learn more about health from other practitioners. We would discuss women’s health, and they would educate me without even realising it!

So what is in the future for The Wellness Nest?

Our Wellness Nest Woman appointments and Take 3 mini-retreats are a hit with our current clients. But in 2020 and beyond, we’ll be bringing you even more ways to prioritise your self-care and put yourself first, so that you can be your best self.

A big aspect I want to bring in is the education and tools that I wish I had when I had my own health concerns. I don’t want you to have the same struggles, so we’re gathering more tips, tricks, tools and techniques so that you feel empowered and informed about your health.
